72 Hours vs 48 Hrs.

From Betty:

I haven’t met a single person yet who doesn’t adore Marcello Hernández. Some might even argue he’s the next Eddie Murphy…Hollywood agrees. Attempting to recreate 48 HRS. (which coupled the established Nick Nolte with the newcomer Eddie Murphy, solidifying Murphy’s film foundation) Hollywood decided to slap together a buddy movie starring the established Kevin Hart and Hernández, but give them 24 more hours. How could it go wrong?

It’s a good call. 72 HOURS has some very funny bits and it was exciting and refreshing to see our current newbies, Hernández, Kam Patterson, and Ben Marshall together playing off the OG Kevin Hart. They just forgot to prewrite.

The set up is rushed. There is no reason to root for our hero, except for the fact that it’s Kevin Hart. He’s not good at work, he’s not good at love…he’s not even good when he gets together with the bachelor party. There is no midpoint. The finale is rushed. It’s all just thrown together. Tragically, they had 48 HRS. meets THE HANGOVER, but unlike both of those movies, no one will remember Marcello Hernández’s first movie with the same nostalgia. But they will definitely have fun laughing at the pieced together bits called 72 HOURS.
